Dads social groups

<!-- SC_OFF --><div class="md"><p>I don’t know if this is right place for this but here goes. I’m a 40 year old dad living on the South Shore of Nassau and wanted to know if there are like social groups or anything like that where fathers could meet up and hang out and just talk?</p> <p>I’m not from around here and don’t have any family or friends locally and have been struggling recently with feeling isolated. one of my children has been going to school for 3 years now and i thought this would be a way for me to get to know people but I’ve found it so hard. I might meet some dads at a birthday party or event and not see them for another 6 months or something so I’ve found it hard to build up any connections. I was at an event last week and I knew a lot of people there but everybody had their own groups they belonged to and I didn’t know where I could go. I tried getting involved in conversation but I felt like I was the odd one out in every group I tried to be part of. </p> <p>When our children started school, my wife got invited to group chats where the moms would chat and organise events. She has got to know people pretty well through this but still feel on the outside. I have asked her about arranging stuff with her her friends group but nothing seems to work out. </p> <p>I joined AOH as a way to meet people but between my social anxiety and how uncomfortable I was with some of the religious rhetoric, I stopped going. I started playing pickleball but it’s been mostly older women in the leagues I’ve been assigned to. I’m starting a new league in the next few weeks but I’m worried it’s going to be the same again. I started working out with a group on weekend morning but summer sports with kids are eating into that now. we grabbed coffee a few times which was nice just to hang out and talk. </p> <p>Im a big sports fan but it mainly soccer and other sports I follow which are not on at good times to just go and hang and watch a game.
