What to do about kids inflicting property damage

<!-- SC_OFF --><div class="md"><p>I’ve been dealing with a group of about 7-8 children in my neighborhood destroying my property for about two years now.</p> <p>It all started a couple summers ago when I began working nights, I live close to a school for a while they would have their after school fights in my front yard. I sleep during the day so I told them to stop, twice.</p> <p>Ever since then, they have relentless. They’ve keyed my car, egged my car, they constantly throw trash over my fence, they tore down an entire section of fence this past Halloween, and today they threw a baseball sized rock at my home, between two windows and chipped the siding.</p> <p>I have police reports of every time an incident has happened, and installed cameras last year, I have 4 separate occurrences on camera.</p> <p>Well, today, after the kid hit my house with a rock. I took a step outside to see what happened and noticed them running down the street. I checked my cameras and, well, exactly what I expected.</p> <p>I called the non-emergency line and a police officer came over to review the footage and give me a police report.</p> <p>The police officer, mind you, I’m 26 but he looked like an absolute child, told me that because the kids seem to be around 12-13, there is nothing I can do about it. He suggested next time I happens that I “get in my car and scare them a little bit”. I’ve never gotten such awful advice from an officer before.</p> <p>So now I’m here, unsure of what the next step is.</p> <p>Do I try to be lowkey and follow them home to talk to the parents?</p> <p>Do I do absolutely nothing and hope they eventually get over it?</p> <p>Do I flip them upside down and steal their shoes and lunch money?</p> <p>Just not sure what to do anymore, kinda tired of worrying that when I wake up if my windshield will be shattered.</p> <p>Any advice would be helpful.</p> <p>Thanks.</p> </div><!-- SC_ON --> submitted by <a href="https://www.reddit.com/user/Mercurysoup"> /u/Mercurys
