Long Beach

The City by the Sea, a barrier-beach city with an LIRR stop and a year-round urban pulse.

Long Beach is the anomaly of the South Shore, a full city on a barrier beach, with the LIRR dropping you two blocks from the boardwalk and a surf-and-skate culture that runs year-round rather than seasonal. The density is closer to a Brooklyn neighborhood than a Suffolk beach town, which shapes the demographic and the retail footprint. Nassau has no licensed dispensary as of 2026, Long Beach included, so adults 21+ order licensed delivery or buy before the trip in. New York state law prohibits cannabis consumption on state-owned land and in public spaces.
