Dispensaries Near Patchogue: Licensed Shops in Medford, Farmingville and Coram

The Village of Patchogue opted out of dispensaries, but the Brookhaven hamlets around it did not. Where the licensed shops are, which stay open late and how delivery reaches the village.

5 min read

The dispensaries near Patchogue are not in Patchogue. The village opted out of hosting retail cannabis in 2021, but the Town of Brookhaven around it did not, and as of 2026 a cluster of licensed shops sits just north and east of the village in Medford, Farmingville, Coram and Bellport. For adults 21+ on the South Shore, the nearest licensed counter is usually a short drive up North Ocean Avenue or out toward the Long Island Expressway.

Why the village has none

When New York legalized adult-use cannabis, it let towns, cities and villages opt out of dispensaries and consumption sites by passing a local law before the end of 2021. The Village of Patchogue did. The Town of Brookhaven, which surrounds it, allowed retail. Because a village's decision applies only inside its own lines, shops can open in the Brookhaven hamlets that ring Patchogue, and several have.

Possession stayed legal everywhere. The opt-out only affects where a storefront can be.

The licensed shops

Every shop below appeared as an active licensed adult-use retailer in the Office of Cannabis Management's license data as of 2026. Shops change hands and hours; confirm before heading out.

Medford

Medford is the hamlet just north of the Patchogue area, a large community of about 24,000 people at the 2020 census, with the Long Island Expressway running through it. It has two licensed shops, both opened in 2026.

  • The Joint Venture, 2 Munsell Road, opened in early 2026 and held its grand opening over 4/20 weekend. Its own site and its state registration both list hours of 7 AM to 11:30 PM daily, among the longest on the Island. The shop offers order-ahead pickup and delivery to most of Suffolk County, with an order minimum.
  • Official JJM, 262 Middle Island Road, opened in March 2026 and lists hours to 8 PM most nights and 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.

Farmingville

Farmingville, Brookhaven's town seat, sits northwest of Patchogue.

  • Canna Blooms, 2400 North Ocean Avenue, opened in November 2025. Its state registration lists closing at 11 PM early in the week and 1 AM late in the week, and its own listing puts Friday and Saturday closings at 1 AM. It delivers across Suffolk County.

Coram

Coram, a hamlet of about 40,000 residents at the 2020 census, is further north along Middle Country Road.

  • Peace of Woodstock, 406 Middle Country Road, opened in November 2025.

Bellport and East Setauket

East of the village, a licensed retailer registered as PSUW LLC opened at 28 Sawgrass Drive in Bellport in June 2026. Further north, Strong Strains is at 19 Technology Drive in East Setauket.

The dispensary directory lists every licensed shop in Brookhaven and across the Island, and the Patchogue hub covers the village and its calendar.

Before the visit

Verify licensed status via the OCM QR code at cannabis.ny.gov. Licensed storefronts display a scannable verification sticker near the entrance; the scan should open a state page with the shop's name and address. OCM's retailer finder at buylegal.cannabis.ny.gov lists every licensed location. Unlicensed shops have operated on the Island too.

Bring a valid photo ID. Adults 21+ only. A driver's license, a non-driver ID, a passport or a military ID all count, and it has to be current.

Know the limits. Up to three ounces of flower and 24 grams of concentrated cannabis, including edibles, vapes and oils.

Budget for the tax. New York charges a 9% state tax and a 4% local tax at the register.

Check the hours. Brookhaven's shops range from 8 PM closings to after midnight, so the shop that fits depends on the hour.

Delivery to Patchogue

Delivery is the licensed option inside the village. Licensed dispensaries can deliver to homes and private businesses anywhere in New York, including towns and villages that opted out of storefronts. Both The Joint Venture and Canna Blooms advertise Suffolk-wide delivery as of 2026.

The rules are the same everywhere in the state. Orders are prepaid; couriers don't take cash. An adult 21+ shows a valid ID and signs at the door. Delivery happens only during the shop's hours and only to a residence or private business, never to a park, a beach or a car.

The drive, and the ferry

Every one of these shops is a car trip from the village for most people, so two rules carry extra weight. Never drive after consuming. And cannabis cannot be consumed in a motor vehicle in New York, moving or parked.

Patchogue is also where many people catch the boat to Fire Island. Davis Park Ferry runs from the village to Davis Park, a Town of Brookhaven beach community, and seasonally to Watch Hill, which is part of the Fire Island National Seashore. National Seashore land is federal property, where cannabis remains prohibited. On the state side, New York state law prohibits cannabis consumption on state-owned land and in public spaces, and town beaches count as public spaces.

What it means for your weekend

Patchogue sits in the middle of one of the Island's denser clusters of licensed shops, just not inside its own borders. Pick the shop by the hours, check the sticker, carry ID, and keep the purchase sealed until home. For newcomers to edibles, start low, go slow. For what's on in Patchogue and along the South Shore, the events calendar has it.
