Sayville is the ferry port for Cherry Grove and Fire Island Pines, which gives it a seasonal-weekend surge layered on top of a year-round South Shore village base. The downtown is walkable and modest, a handful of blocks of restaurants and shops adjacent to the ferry terminal. Sayville is in the Town of Islip, which opted out of dispensaries, so the nearest licensed shops for adults 21+ are in the Town of Brookhaven. The ferry side of town points at Fire Island National Seashore, federal land where cannabis possession is prohibited. The off-season rhythm is slower and more residential, which keeps the year-round demand flat. The Bayport-Blue Point neighborhood sits next door and shares the same South Shore pace.
