Cannabis Delivery in Mattituck: How Licensed Shops Reach the North Fork

Mattituck has no dispensary, but licensed shops in Calverton and Riverhead deliver east along the North Fork. Who covers it, how the rules work and when to order.

Cannabis delivery in Mattituck is legal, available and the main way the North Fork buys from a licensed shop. Mattituck has no dispensary of its own, and as of 2026 neither does anywhere else in the Town of Southold. But licensed shops just west in the Town of Riverhead deliver east along the North Fork, and New York's delivery rules let them bring a legal order to any home in the state. For adults 21+ in Mattituck, Laurel or Cutchogue, the order usually starts on a phone and ends at the front door.

Why there's no shop in Mattituck

Mattituck is a hamlet in the Town of Southold, and in December 2021 the Southold Town Board voted to opt out of hosting both retail dispensaries and on-site consumption sites, using the one-time choice New York gave municipalities when it legalized adult-use cannabis. The question has come back since. Dispensaries were a point of debate between Town Board candidates in Southold's 2025 election, and any opted-out town can opt back in by repealing its local law. As of 2026, Southold had not.

The opt-out covered storefronts and lounges. It did not cover possession, which is legal for adults 21+ across the state, and it did not cover delivery.

Who delivers to Mattituck

The nearest licensed storefronts are in the Town of Riverhead, which allowed retail. Two shops there publish delivery coverage that reaches Mattituck, as of 2026:

Beleaf Calverton

Beleaf's Calverton shop, at 4462 Middle Country Road, delivers across a set of rate zones covering eastern Suffolk. Its delivery page places Laurel and Mattituck in its second zone, with an order minimum and no delivery fee, and lists delivery hours matching store hours. A valid photo ID is required at the door. The farther North Fork hamlets, from Cutchogue out to Orient, sit in a further zone with a higher minimum.

Strain Stars Riverhead

Strain Stars, at 1871 Old Country Road in Riverhead, is a large store near the Tanger Outlets and was the town's first recreational dispensary when it opened in late November 2024. Its site says it delivers across Nassau and Suffolk, excluding the Hamptons and Fire Island, which puts the North Fork inside its footprint. Orders require a minimum before tax, drivers text before they head out, and the ID at the door must match the name on the order.

Both shops appear as active licensed adult-use retailers in the Office of Cannabis Management's license data as of 2026. Minimums, zones and hours are each shop's own and change; check the shop's site at checkout. The dispensary directory lists every licensed shop on the Island.

How delivery works in New York

The state's delivery rules are the same in Mattituck as in Manhattan:

  • Prepaid only. Pay online or by phone when ordering. Couriers don't take cash.
  • ID and a signature at the door. The buyer, or another adult 21+ the buyer names, shows a valid photo ID and signs.
  • Homes and private businesses only. Delivery can go to any residence, including a rental or a hotel stay, or a private business. It can't go to a park, a beach, a school, a public building or anyone in a car.
  • During store hours. Orders can be placed any time; delivery happens only while the shop is open.
  • The same limits. Up to three ounces of flower and 24 grams of concentrated cannabis per day, a category that includes edibles and vapes.
  • No state lines. Delivery is New York only, and carrying cannabis out of state is illegal. On the North Fork, that includes the ferry from Orient Point to New London, Connecticut.

Verify licensed status via the OCM QR code at cannabis.ny.gov before ordering. OCM's retailer finder at buylegal.cannabis.ny.gov lists every licensed shop; a delivery service that doesn't trace back to a business on the state's list isn't licensed.

Timing a North Fork order

Distance is the variable. Mattituck sits well east of the Riverhead shops, so allow for the drive and order early in the day rather than near closing time. Riverhead's shops tend to close earlier than city shops: Strain Stars lists 9 PM closing Monday through Saturday and 8 PM on Sundays, and Beleaf's Calverton delivery hours end at 8 or 9 PM depending on the day. A weekend order placed in late afternoon is a safer bet than one placed after dinner.

For anyone with a car and the time, the Riverhead storefronts are also an easy errand. The Riverhead hub covers the town. Never drive after consuming, and cannabis cannot be consumed in a motor vehicle in New York.

Mattituck, beyond the order

Mattituck is a small place, with about 4,300 residents at the 2020 census, and it reads like the North Fork in miniature: farm stands, quiet roads and water close by in most directions. The hamlet also hosts an annual Strawberry Festival. The Mattituck hub collects local events and coverage.

The beaches and the state land around the North Fork carry one rule worth repeating: New York state law prohibits cannabis consumption on state-owned land and in public spaces. Town beaches and parks are public spaces too. A delivery to a rental is for the rental.

What it means for your weekend

On the North Fork, cannabis is a planned purchase. Check the shop's zone and minimum, order early, have ID ready at the door, and keep it at the house. For newcomers to edibles, start low, go slow. For what's on across the East End this season, the events calendar has the list.
